A cheap “guaranteed” badge from an unknown source can ruin the entire trip.

Practice-round access and tournament-day access are different experiences. Practice days may offer more photography opportunities under current rules and a more relaxed atmosphere, while competition days carry the intensity of the championship itself.

Augusta fills far beyond its normal hotel capacity

Local hotels become expensive and scarce. Many visitors stay in private homes, travel from neighbouring towns or base themselves farther away and drive. Book only after you have a credible ticket plan, but do not delay once attendance is confirmed.

If staying outside Augusta, estimate the morning drive with tournament traffic rather than normal traffic. Parking arrangements and shuttle products can change, so follow official guidance for that year.

The no-phone rule changes how you plan the day

Augusta National has long prohibited mobile phones and other electronic devices on the grounds. That means no digital map, no messaging your group every twenty minutes and no checking a ride-hailing app from the course. Confirm the current policy, then make meeting points and post-event transport plans before entering.

The absence of phones is part of the atmosphere, but it rewards preparation. Carry only what the club permits and know where you will reconnect with companions if you separate.

Watching golf means choosing between movement and patience

You can follow a group for several holes, spend time around Amen Corner or claim a place near a green and watch many players come through. Each approach reveals a different tournament. Trying to see every famous hole in one day usually creates more walking than watching.

The course is hillier than television suggests. Comfortable shoes matter, especially if you plan to walk large sections. Spring weather in Georgia can also range from warm sun to rain.

Augusta is a small host for a global event

The city becomes tournament-focused for the week, with restaurants and roads much busier than normal. If you are flying, regional airports and larger hubs such as Atlanta may all be relevant depending on price and schedule.

Give yourself enough time after the tournament before a flight. Leaving the grounds, retrieving a car and joining traffic can take longer than expected, and a relaxed final evening is a better finish than racing directly from the course to an airport.
