Formentera day trips
Formentera is the classic Ibiza yacht outing. The crossing is manageable for many charter boats, and the island adds clear water and a different pace from Ibiza town. Popular anchorages become crowded in high season, so captains may choose alternatives.
West and north coast coves
Not every charter needs to go to Formentera. Ibiza’s own coastline has smaller coves and dramatic rock scenery. Wind direction matters, and one side of the island can be more comfortable than the other on a given day.
Motor yacht or sailing boat
Motor yachts are useful for covering more coastline and returning quickly. Sailing yachts and catamarans suit groups who want a slower day and plenty of time at anchor. Catamarans are particularly attractive for groups because of their deck space.
Restaurants by tender
Several coastal restaurants are used to yacht guests arriving by tender, but reservations and landing arrangements should be confirmed. A long lunch can be wonderful on a full-day charter and frustrating on a short four-hour booking.
Peak summer
July and August bring high marina demand, busy anchorages and strong nightlife. June and September can feel easier while still offering a classic Balearic experience. Conditions vary, so shoulder season should not be treated as empty.
Keep one day simple
A strong day might include one scenic cruise, one long swim stop and lunch. Trying to collect five beaches and two islands can turn the charter into constant repositioning. The best Ibiza days usually leave time to do very little.
Formentera is popular for a reason, but not mandatory
First-time visitors often treat Formentera as compulsory. It is beautiful, but a strong charter day can stay entirely around Ibiza when wind, crowds or timing make that smarter. The west coast, Es Vedrà area and northern coves offer very different scenery. Ask the captain which side of the island is most sheltered on the day. If the group has a fixed restaurant reservation on Formentera, the route becomes less flexible; if lunch is onboard, the yacht can follow the best water. Also consider departure port. Starting in Ibiza Town, San Antonio or Santa Eulària changes which coastline is efficient. The island is not huge, but a yacht should not spend the whole day circling it just to satisfy a checklist.
Nightlife and yacht time compete for energy
A group that stays out until sunrise will not necessarily enjoy an early-morning departure to Formentera. Build the charter around the real holiday schedule. Afternoon departures, late lunches and sunset returns can suit nightlife-focused groups better than forcing a traditional 10 a.m. start. Families and couples may prefer the opposite. Ibiza offers enough charter inventory that the day can usually be shaped around the group’s rhythm if expectations are discussed in advance.
Book the day you actually want
If a beach club lunch is the priority, choose a charter length that leaves enough time to enjoy it. If swimming and the boat itself matter more, skip the fixed reservation and keep the route flexible. Trying to do both on a short booking often makes the day feel rushed.
