Keep official documents organized and distinguish immigration residence from tax residence; they are related but not automatically the same.
7. Everyday life depends on more than paperwork
Bahasa Indonesia is highly useful even where English is common in tourism. Daily life also depends on traffic, climate, religious calendars and neighborhood relationships more than a visitor may notice during a short stay. Test the neighborhood, commute, language environment and social routine during the first months rather than judging the country only by a holiday experience.
8. Use the first months as a reversible setup period
Moving to Indonesia becomes easier when the first decisions preserve flexibility. Immigration processing, housing quality and work routines may look different after arrival than they did from abroad. Delay unnecessary long-term commitments until the basic systems are working.
